No More Chafing & Not Being Able To Find Clothes That Fit Properly

Fat cells, cellulite and saggy skin can easily accumulate on the thighs. Thighplasty, or thigh lift, can remove sagging skin and improve the overall look and feel of your thighs. Your thighs will be smoother, more proportional and enhance the contours of your lower body. Evening and weekend consultation and surgery times available.

Your thighs are lumpy, too big and sag. They leave you feeling insecure about your appearance, even though you recently lost a lot of weight and are eager to show off your new figure. You never wear shorts, can't find anything that fits properly and hide in shapeless pants, even at the beach. Your skin constantly chafes and you have irritations in the folds of your thigh skin.

All the dieting and exercising that you do have not helped. Undesired excess in your thighs make you appear heavier and less fit than you are, and you want to do something about it.

Your solution: a thigh lift

A thigh lift reshapes the thighs by tightening saggy skin and removing unwanted fat. The goal is to make your thighs leaner, so they match the proportions of your overall body shape.

Research has found thighplasty to be an essential tool in body contouring following massive weight loss. In fact, it's one of the most commonly requested procedures amongst those who have lost a lot of weight. Thigh lifts are also popular among aging patients as well, since skin tends to sag with age.

A positive outcome from thigh lifts

A 2006 study of thigh lift patients showed thighplasty to have positive outcomes, low complications, and high levels of patient satisfaction. Following a thigh lift, skin quality is dramatically improved both in appearance and feel. Some visible scars will remain, but the overall results are long lasting, provided that you maintain a stable weight and general fitness.

Dr. Kara performs the medial thigh lift, or inner thigh lift.

Dr. Kara will make an initial incision in your inner leg crease, where it will be minimally visible. He may then use liposuction in Toronto to remove localized fat deposits. At this point, excess skin will be removed. This will allow Dr. Kara to redrape the skin of your thighs to create a more toned and taut appearance. At the end of sugery, Dr. Kara will close the incisions with sutures and apply surgical tape and compression garments, which will help minimize swelling and maintain the new slimmer contour of your thighs.

Recovery period: how long is thigh lift recovery

When you leave Dr. Kara's Toronto plastic surgery practice, he will give you specific aftercare instructions to follow. He will ask you to walk one day after your surgery, but to avoid most exercise for about two weeks. You may have drains in place to collect fluid accumulations and will need to wear the compression garments for a few weeks. You may experience swelling and discomfort and Dr. Kara will prescribe medication to help you manage any pain. After four to six weeks, you will complete your recovery and as any lingering swelling dissipates, you will see the beautiful results of your thigh lift.

A thigh lift is permanent. you'll be able to maintain and further enhance your results with a stable weight and active lifestyle.

Where will my scars be?

Your scars will be located in the upper inner thigh, where the thigh meets the pubic area. It may extend downward toward the inner knees. Scars vary based on your thighs and the degree of correction needed.

What are the thigh lift risks?

As with any surgery, thigh lift surgery risks include anesthesia risks, poor wound healing, and infection. Many of these complications can be avoided by following Dr. Kara’s pre- and post-operative instructions. In rare cases, the following complications may occur:

  • Major wound separation
  • Asymmetry
  • Sutures may spontaneously surface through the skin, become visible or produce irritation that require removal
  • Unfavorable scarring
  • Numbness or other changes in skin sensation
  • Possibility of revision surgery

In a 2015 study of 106 patients who underwent thigh lift surgery, 68% experienced some form of complication. The most common complications associated in this study were bleeding along the suture and fluid accumulation under the skin known as seroma. Both conditions are easily remedied in Dr. Kara’s office and will not have an impact on your thigh lift results. What is medial thigh lift? It is a thigh lift that targets the inner upper thighs.
