What is the Science Behind Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is an injectable product that features poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is a synthetic material that is biocompatible and biodegradable. When it is injected into the deeper layer of skin (known as the deep dermis), the PLLA microparticles are absorbed by your body to help create the framework for fresh new collagen. Gradually, the skin becomes plumper and firmer as collagen levels increase. That's how wrinkles smooth away and sagging skin tightens. The plumping abilities of Sculptra® also work to smooth and round out the buttocks for a subtle lift you'll notice!

Treatment steps
Preparation
- Don’t take any medications or supplements that can cause excessive bruising and bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and high doses of vitamin E.
Treatment
- Topical anesthetic may be applied. The whole face is cleansed.
- A thin needle is used to make multiple injections of Sculptra® into the desired areas.
- The area is cleaned again.
You can go back to work immediately after your treatment.
Recovery period
You may resume your activities as normal, however it's best to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and saunas for about a week after your treatment. Some bruising and swelling may appear but will disappear within a week or two at most. You'll be asked to massage the treated areas.
